The application
Mammalian cells are the backbone of modern biopharmaceutical manufacturing: monoclonal antibodies, recombinant proteins, cell therapies and viral vectors for vaccines and gene therapy. Yet they are fragile cells, sensitive to shear stress and to shifts in dissolved gases and pH.
Our bioreactors are engineered to deliver reproducible, gentle culture conditions while keeping full control of dissolved oxygen, CO₂, pH and temperature. A single Bioflex™ SCADA platform carries the process from 0.5 L in R&D up to 350 L+ in production.
Technology involved
Low-turbulence stirred-tank vessels with impellers sized to minimise shear stress, combined with gentle aeration strategies and advanced gas control.
- Low-shear agitation. Pitched-blade and marine impellers for homogeneous mixing without damaging cells.
- Microsparger & surface aeration. Tunable oxygen transfer with contained foam formation.
- Perfusion mode. High-cell-density cultures with cell retention and continuous medium exchange.
- Bioflex™ control. Automated recipes, audit trail and FDA 21 CFR Part 11 compliance across every scale.
